Russia gives $2 mln for Kosovo Orthodox churches restoration
Moscow, March 16, Interfax - Russia has allocated $2 million to restore the Christian Orthodox relics destroyed eight years ago by Albanian extremists in Kosovo, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.
"Russia has allocated $2 million to restore the ruined relics. The restoration will be carried out under the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) aegis," Lavrov told a press conference after talks with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic.
Lavrov and Jeremic have signed a protocol on Russia's participation in the interior decoration of the St. Sava Cathedral in Belgrade.
"We see this protocol as another proof of the solid spiritual ties between the people of Russia and Serbia and the willingness to step up our relations in a variety of areas," Lavrov said.
